The Challenge

The company wanted to automate a core acquisition channel end to end, from audience research through to conversion and reporting. The idea was clear. Everything else was not.

The initial brief was a single sentence. There was no understanding of the regulatory landscape, no technical assessment, and no operational design. The company’s earlier attempt using a general-purpose AI assistant had produced a surface-level overview that missed critical compliance constraints, underestimated operational complexity, and offered no actionable structure.

With a six-month window to get something running and limited internal resources, the company needed more than a feasibility check. It needed a complete picture of what “end to end” actually looks like, honest about the constraints, and structured so the team could decide where to start without losing sight of where it all leads.

The Approach

Realign ran a focused Revealed diagnostic, working from the rough brief and expanding it into a full operational design while staying aligned with the company’s objectives.

The work covered three dimensions:

  • Regulatory feasibility — A thorough assessment of the compliance landscape, including data protection (GDPR), platform terms of service, and the EU AI Act. Rather than treating regulation as a blocker, the analysis identified the compliant path for each activity and built compliance into the design as a foundational workflow, not an afterthought. The European regulatory exposure was significant given the global investor audience, and this shaped several design decisions.
  • Operational workflow design — The single-sentence brief was translated into 9 interconnected workflows from regulatory groundwork through to performance measurement. Each workflow was broken down step by step (~45 steps total), with every step classified by automation level and flagged for regulatory considerations. The design was deliberately modular: workflows can be adopted individually or in sequence, so the team can start small and expand without rework.
  • Stack exploration — A high-level assessment of tooling options across the full platform. The priority was a lean stack with minimal dependencies and low complexity. The recommendation consolidated the entire platform into fewer than seven tools, meaning the company would likely need a single technical specialist to build and maintain it rather than a specialist per tool.

The customer’s input throughout was minimal by design. Realign took the rough brief, asked targeted clarifying questions, and delivered a finished blueprint. The goal was not to present options and wait for decisions. It was to show the complete picture so the team could strategise from a position of clarity.

The Results

In two weeks, the engagement delivered a complete, execution-ready blueprint.

  • 9 workflows, ~45 steps designed end to end: covering the full acquisition chain end to end, each with clear automation levels and regulatory flags
  • ~60% of steps fully automatable: with human involvement narrowing to four daily decisions in steady-state operation
  • Regulatory path cleared: GDPR, platform terms, and EU AI Act requirements mapped to every workflow step, with a compliant data approach that avoids storing personal data until genuine engagement occurs
  • Lean stack, low complexity: the full platform consolidated into fewer than 7 core tools, reducing dependency and the need for specialist knowledge per tool
  • Modular by design: the team can prioritise one or two workflows to launch within their timeline, knowing the remaining workflows slot in without redesign
  • Decision-ready clarity: the company moved from a one-line idea to an internal debate about which workflows to prioritise first, not whether the concept is viable
